Cloak and Dagger TV Show
I randomly stumbled upon this show while playing Marvel Rivals. Didn't even know before there was a show about Cloak and Dagger. It only has two seasons with ten episodes each. The style of the show is completly different from any other Marvel Superhero Show (if you can even call Cloak and Dagger superheroes). The show is more slow moving and serious than other Marvel shows, devoid of the often times rather annoying Marvel humor. The first season is about Tyrone and Tandy learning to control their powers and dealing with family drama. There aren't any supervillains here, it's mostly about drug dealers and police corruption, which I'm honestly fine with. Overall the first season was enjoyable.
The problem is the second season. You see they kept the same slow moving format of the first season, but what they really needed was more action. Instead we got more family drama and it just felt like they characters didn't progress at all. They just kinda repeated the same thing again, even though now they had an actually interesting villain. While Dagger is hope and light and Cloak is fear and darkness, their villain is despair, the polar opposite of Dagger. Great villain, but lacking execution.
They also diverged from the comics quite a bit, in some ways good, in some ways bad. The way Tyrone and Tandy get their powers and how it ties into the family drama is better in the show imo, but connecting Cloaks powers to the Loa Bwonsamdi not so much. In the comics Cloak's powers are a bit like Darth Nihilus: he has an eternal hunger for the light and hope of people. Dagger keeps him in check by feeding him her light and hope. Together they keep a balance. Sadly that wasn't included in the show.
Overall I would give this show a 6 or 7 out of 10.
